3D Printed Roundabout

Description:

This 3D printed roundabout was created as a group project in collaboration with The Seeing Eye, a guide dog organization in New Jersey. It is being used as a training tool to help new guide dog users safely navigate roundabouts. Our contact at The Seeing Eye specifically asked us to make this because roundabouts are one of the most difficult things to teach during guide dog user training due to their unusual and unpredictable traffic flow.

Created alongside the guide dog harness attachment. Click here to view the original project page.

Project Details:

  • Needed to be big enough to have sufficient tactile detail, but small enough to be carried around easily
  • Final design is 12cm x 12cm and includes a hole for a keyring or lanyard
  • Printed using PLA material
  • 3D modeled by one of my groupmates, who used schematics from the Ohio Department of Transportation

My Responsibilities:

  • Schedule meetings with our organization contact
  • Receive/discuss feedback from our organization contact to assist in our iterative prototyping
